Green Spirituality
One of the prolific teachers of this era frequently used to open his workshops with the saying, "God is in a dead fish". This article is a synopsis of his lecture on this topic.
Wayists know that the universes are created (not were created, but are perpetually created) by the Divine One's forces that flow through the Way. The Energies of God, therefore, permeate all things seen and unseen, known and unknown to us. The wondrous body of the fish was put together from sub-atomic matter and energies that formed nuclei, protons, electrons, atoms, chemicals, compounds, cells, intelligence, and organic growth; within a very eco-friendly process.
While the fish was alive, it was the Divine's presence in the Way that upheld the order of the molecules and the working of the organs and the mind of our neighbor the fish. At the end of life of the machine (the wondrous fish body) it becomes a hive of organic activity of another nature. After death, the organic activity in the body is probably as busy as it was before death--only different processes. Therefore, the presence of the Divine remains among us.
Once the fish's body has decomposed, the presence of the Divine travels with the different elements that constituted the body. We, who masticate and assimilate the dead fish (eating it) ingest the presence of the Divine and we use those elements to feed our bodies. Should the fish body decompose and become part of the elements of nature again, the presence of the Divine remains, ready to continue Its Divine work. Wayists look forward to donating their bodies either to science or to the Earth--just as a final gesture of gratitude.
Wayism teaches that all animals and plants, all living beings are our neighbors. We are taught to tread softly and be kind, gentle and easy to live with. I quote a section of our Primary Text, chapter entitle Step Lightly:

tep lightly; decrease your footprints on people’s souls, neighbor creatures’ lives, and on the planet.
Be an asset; give more than you take from life.
